Our Plan!

My group and I finally came to a conclusion on the plot of the film opening we are going to do! After talking about it, we decided to shoot a teen drama about a girl running away from home with a boy. We were inspired by shows and movies like The End of the F***ing World and Paper Towns. Both this movie and show have teen rebellion as one of their main themes and involve a person or people running away from home.

In The End of the F***ing World, two teenagers run away together and develop a relationship after a series of mishaps. This dark comedy-drama show became very popular and earned high ratings from its audience.
With its great success, it is hard not to be inspired by this show! I remember binge-watching the show and finishing it in just one day. All the episodes are different from the ones before, yet all equally intriguing. The show always has the audience on the edge of their seats just waiting to see what's going to happen next. This is what we want to accomplish in our film opening: the feeling of suspense, the not HAVING to keep watching but WANTING to keep watching.

In the movie Paper Towns, a young girl, Margo, mysteriously disappears and leaves clues behind for her friends to find her. Margo runs away because she doesn't believe she belongs in the world she was living in at the moment.
No one knows where she went or how to find her, except for the few clues she leaves behind. The main themes of mystery and teen rebellion is what we wish to capture in our film opening. We want to make our main character as mysterious as possible, revealing as little as possible because sometimes LESS is MORE. Additionally, we all loved the name Margo and are thinking about using it as the main character's name. Also, we wish to include the theme of teen rebellion as one of our main themes for the film opening. Since this theme is incorporated in many successful movies like The Breakfast Club (1985)Ferris Bueller's Day Off  (1986), and Heathers (1988), we decided to try this theme out.

In the next post, we will hopefully have a layout of our film opening to show you guys. See you later!
